Kimber will speak with a group of Alaska Magistrates at the Alaska Court System’s Annual Conference for Magistrate Judges April 21 from 8:15am-12:30pm at the Snowden Training Center on Understanding and Treating Vicarious Trauma.

(1) what is secondary trauma; (2) how does a person recognize that her or she is experiencing secondary trauma; (3) what are some of the consequences of secondary trauma; (4) how to handle secondary trauma and find support; (5) any tips for how people with high-stress, emotionally-charged jobs can leave issues “at the office”; (6) how to avoid “burnout” in these types of jobs; and (7) any advice for people coping with secondary trauma alone

Treating Complex PTSD, Dissociation and Dissociative Disorders: Kimber will present on treating complex trauma and dissociation while establishing the overall framework for the gold standard in the phasic treatment of complex trauma that may be co-morbid with dissociative symptoms and the use of dissociative agents such as substance abuse. This course will be held on May 19, 2017 and June 30, 2017.
